Employment Status: Temporary Part-Time

Duration: March 2026 - subject to change as per Management Rights

Hours of Work: 12 hour rotating shifts on weekdays, evenings, nights and/or weekends - subject to change as per Management Rights

Location: Humber River Health – Wilson Site

Labour Group: Non Union

Salary Range: $17.600

Reporting Relationship: Manager, 11 East & West Inpatient Surgical Program

The Student Nurse Extern role is an unregulated healthcare worker providing direct personal support to patients.

Responsibilities include:

• Provision of basic care (activities of daily living such as bathing, toileting, feeding, etc.) for up to 6 patients each
• Documentation of activities of daily living (ADLs), intake and output, and relevant communication for patients cared for
• Work under the supervision of Registered Nurses and Registered Practical Nurses in accordance with department policies and procedures
• Immediate reporting of any clinical concerns to the direct supervisor
• No performance of regulated acts such as medication administration, vital signs, or assessments

• Currently enrolled in years 2-4 of a nursing program of studies
• Current CPR certification required
• Excellent communication skills
• Exceptional customer service skills
• Team player, works well with others
• Ability to communicate effectively with inter‑professional healthcare team members
• Demonstrates understanding of the use of technology
• Ability to provide basic assistive care with frequent supervision and ongoing mentoring from a Registered Nurse or Registered Practical Nurse
• Mandatory compliance with HRH training on Privacy & Confidentiality, WHMIS, Fire & Safety, and hand hygiene modules
• Good work attendance
