You will serve on an inter-professional team providing patient care within the Plastic Clinic, Minor Surgery Clinic, and collaborating with General Surgeons and Ophthalmologists. The role requires clinical assessment, patient teaching, critical thinking, and leadership in a fast-paced environment focused on patient/family centered care, evidence-based practice, and customer satisfaction.
Responsibilities- Provide patient care within the Plastic Clinic, Minor Surgery Clinic, and related surgical settings.
- Collaborate with Plastic Surgeons, Orthopaedic Technologists, the Fracture Clinic, Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, and Wound Care Nurses.
- Work closely with General Surgeons and Ophthalmologists to support patient care.
- Utilize clinical assessment, patient teaching, and communication skills in a fast-paced clinic environment.
- Assist with start-up of a new clinic and act as a resource and role model for the team.
- Maintain a patient/family centred care environment and adhere to health and safety policies.
- Certificate in Practical Nursing (required).
- Postgraduate certificates in aseptic procedures (Perioperative Certificate), physical assessment, and medications (required).
- Current Certificate of Registration with the College of Nurses and current BCLS certification.
- Minimum 2 years recent experience working in an operating room setting as a scrub nurse.
- Minimum of 2 years recent experience (within the past year) in an ambulatory care setting including Plastics, Fracture and minor procedures.
- Demonstrated knowledge of aseptic technique, completion of an operating room course, patient education, suture removal, dressing changes, and assisting with minor procedures.
- RPNAO membership is preferred.
- Excellent physical assessment skills, critical thinking, problem solving, and ability to function in a fast-paced clinic environment.
- Ability to act as a resource and role model, work effectively within an interprofessional team as well as independently.
- Proficient computer skills and evidence of ongoing professional development, continuing education and leadership experience.
- Good attendance and performance records, with the ability to maintain these standards.
- Commitment to a healthy and safe workplace for self and others, complying with hospital policies and health and safety legislation.
Work Schedule:
07:30AM - 3:30PM, 08:00AM - 4:00PM, 07:30AM - 11:30AM, 07:30AM - 12:30PM (schedules may change due to operational needs).
Compensation: CU10 Range: $37.64 - $39.02.
