Job Overview
As a member of the Surgical System team, you will provide nursing care in the Outpatient Procedure Suite (OPS) Day Surgery Department and OPS Procedure Department.
Responsibilities- Admission and post-operative recovery of adult and pediatric surgical patients and endoscopic procedures (colonoscopy, gastroscopy, urology, ERCP, and bronchoscopy).
- Perform endoscopy related procedures (colonoscopy, gastroscopy, ERCP, and bronchoscopy) and minor surgical procedures from the urologic, plastic and ear/nose/throat specialités.
- Participate in patient safety and patient advocacy throughout the care experience while working in an interprofessional team environment.
- RN with undergraduate nursing degree.
- Certificate of registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario as a Registered Nurse.
- A minimum of 1-2 years of PACU experience coupled with completion of the Critical Care and/or Post anaesthesia certification or equivalent mandatory.
- Minimum of 2 years working in an endoscopy related procedure environment.
- Current BCLS/ACLS/PALS certification.
- Demonstrated knowledge of the OPANA standards is an asset.
- Membership with the Registered Nurses Association of Ontario (RNAO).
- Ability to work both independently and as part of an interprofessional care team member.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to foster positive working relationships with interprofessional team members.
- Familiar with professional and hospital standards, guidelines and procedures.
- Excellent problem‑solving skills, negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
- Ability to provide and receive constructive feedback.
- Excellent organizational skills with an ability to prioritize.
- Proficient computer skills.
- Evidence of professional development, continuing education and leadership experience is required.
- Demonstrated good attendance and performance records with the ability to maintain these same standards.
- Demonstrates a commitment to a healthy and safe workplace for self and others by taking all reasonable precautions and working in compliance with organisation‑related policies, health and safety legislation and best practices and completing relevant mandatory education as required.
Days Monday to Friday (schedules may change due to operational needs).
CompensationBAND J Range: $41.18 - $59.03 per hour.
