The Group Pregnancy Midwife provides safe, flexible maternity care to child‑bearing people and their families from conception through the 6‑week postpartum period. Responsibilities include antenatal, intrapartum, delivery and postpartum care within a new, innovative group care model on the Alongside Midwifery Unit. Midwives rotate through care components and work in shifts (8‑hour, 12‑hour, day, night or weekend). Midwives are autonomous practitioners who collaborate with the multidisciplinary health‑care team and maintain continuity of access to care beyond the child‑bearing year.
Keyresponsibilities
- Deliver comprehensive midwifery care from conception to 6 weeks postpartum.
- Work within a rotating shift schedule, including 12‑hour day, night and weekend shifts.
- Provide antenatal, labor and delivery, and postpartum care in a group and individualized setting.
- Collaborate with nursing staff, physicians and other health‑care professionals to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
- Maintain continuity of care by coordinating with other providers and services beyond birth.
- Current Certificate of Registration with the College of Midwives.
- Minimum 2–3 years of recent experience as a midwife; full scope experience is an asset.
- Demonstrated expertise in clinical care that supports the physical, psychological, social and spiritual well‑being of families.
- Experienced in building successful relationships with patients, families and colleagues as partners in decision‑making.
- Leadership attributes for working closely with nursing staff, the multidisciplinary team and stakeholders.
- Advocacy for patients and families.
- Excellent physical assessment and proficient computer and writing skills.
- Familiarity with professional and hospital standards, guidelines and procedures.
12‑hour shifts, day, night, weekend. Rotating shifts. Schedules may change due to operational needs.
CompensationBAND C Range: $60.08 – $75.14 per hour.
