Job Overview As a registered practical nurse you will become an integral member of the interprofessional team responsible for the comprehensive care of medical and cardiac patients. You will practice in an environment where the emphasis is on professional practice and customer satisfaction. Using your clinical expertise, in collaboration with the interprofessional team, you will be responsible for comprehensive assessment, care planning, patient education and discharge planning to support the continuity of care throughout the patient’s stay on Acute Medicine.
Responsibilities Perform comprehensive assessment, care planning, patient education and discharge planning.
Coordinate and develop interprofessional plans of care that reflect patient needs.
Utilize clinical leadership, analytical, problem‑solving, delegation and interpersonal skills to facilitate provision of quality patient care.
Qualifications Current Certificate of Registration with the College of Nurses.
Completion of Medication Administration certification.
Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS).
Recent Acute Medical Experience (1‑2 years) required.
RPNAO membership preferred.
Excellent physical assessment skills.
Proficient computer skills.
Demonstrated commitment to a patient/family‑centred care environment.
Excellent critical thinking and problem‑solving skills.
Ability to work effectively within an interprofessional team as well as independently.
Well‑developed organization, communication, interpersonal and teaching skills.
Evidence of ongoing professional development, continuing education and leadership experience.
Good attendance and performance records.
Commitment to a healthy and safe workplace, compliance with health and safety legislation and organization policies.
Work Schedule The successful candidate will be available to work 12‑hour shifts, both days and nights (07:30‑19:30, 19:30‑07:30) weekday, weekend and holidays. Please note schedules may change due to operational needs.
Compensation CU10 Range: $37.64 – $39.02 per hour.
