Position: Quality Assurance Inspector Entry Level (Food Industry)- Night Shift )

DBA Bel Pak is a leading one‑stop contract packaging company, specializing in precision packing of dry foods, chocolate and confectionary products from multiple facilities totaling more than 500,000 ft2. Position

Summary
  • Quality Assurance Inspector within the Quality Department of a co‑packer in confectionary and snack food products.
  • Responsible for quality element control related to operations, policy and procedure auditing, leading quality improvement projects, and driving defect prevention and detection.
  • Organizes and reviews all QA aspects of daily production.
Responsibilities
  • Maintain and ensure consistent execution of current QA programs and internal SOPs while complying with SQF, CFIA, and client requirements.
  • Lead initiatives to improve quality and safety of processes.
  • Assist with company food safety and quality program updates, maintenance, and verifications to meet regulatory and compliance requirements.
  • Monitor and inspect production lines and quality report forms daily to ensure client quality and food safety standards are met.
  • Perform onsite product verification, CCP checks, and line inspections after cleaning.
  • Evaluate incoming bulk at receiving.
  • Review shift reports daily to ensure lot traceability and accuracy of quality check forms.
  • Prepare daily samples for lab testing when needed.
  • Perform environmental, ATP, and allergen tests when required.
  • Conduct water and air testing and sampling as necessary.
  • Perform equipment internal calibration per schedule.
  • Ensure allergen program adherence and quality & food safety standards compliance.
  • Conduct monthly internal audits with cross‑functional teams and identify improvement opportunities.
  • Maintain and verify daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning duties and records are up to date.
  • Maintain and verify daily hold logs and ensure they are up to date.
  • Oversee retention samples and storage for all customers.
  • Oversee proper destruction of any food product.
  • Prepare all new product start‑ups ensuring Bel Pak and client requirements are met.
  • Maintain pest control program and liaise with operator to meet company and regulatory standards.
  • Drive prevention vs. detection of defects.
  • Support client audits and government audits to meet compliance.
  • Support ongoing development and improvement of the Quality Management System (QMS), including managing controlled documents, quality records archiving, employee training, and special projects.
  • Follow all Company health and safety policies and procedures and work in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
  • Perform other tasks assigned by supervisor or designate.
Education and Work Experience Requirements
  • Minimum 1‑year experience in quality assurance in food processing or food packaging environment.
  • Knowledge and experience of GMPs, HACCP and quality management systems.
  • Post‑secondary education related to Quality Assurance and/or Food Science is an asset.
Key Technical and Behavioural Competencies
  • Self‑starter who works well under pressure and manages time effectively.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel).
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work independently and with multiple departments.
  • Knowledge of allergen and pathogen swabbing techniques.
  • Knowledge of quality auditing and inspection methods.
  • Detail‑oriented with strong organizational skills and ability to prioritise and multitask.
  • Excellent reading, writing, and oral communication skills.
