Field Labourers; Archaeology Field Technicians

Your Opportunity

As part of our Environmental Services team, the Archaeology group has an opportunity for seasonal Field Laborers/Technicians based out of our Hamilton, ON office for the 2026 archaeology field season (anticipated start date of April–May, 2026).

• Under the direction of licensed archaeologists, carry out Stage 2‑4 archaeological field work, including but not limited to test pit and pedestrian survey.
• Archaeological site excavation.
• Artifact collection and site documentation.
• Work in compliance with occupational health and safety policies and Stantec’s HSSE program, policies, and safe work practices.
• Follow directions of licensed archaeologists, senior technical advisors, Project Managers, and Task Managers to deliver high‑quality products that meet client needs.
• Work with Indigenous communities to develop and maintain relationships of mutual trust, respect, and collaboration.

• Past work experience with physically demanding outdoor labor; ability to carry out strenuous fieldwork is essential.
• Ability to travel within Ontario and work out‑of‑town with overnight stays for short and long durations.
• A full G driver’s license in good standing preferred; licensed drivers may be required to drive company vehicles.
• Experience working well in a team atmosphere and independently as required.
• Willingness to learn new skills.

• Current undergraduate or graduate students in anthropology or archaeology encouraged to apply; not a requirement.
• Field work may include exposure to inclement weather.

• Hourly wage for the 2026 field season ranges from $24.12 to $29.71 per hour, depending on the number of complete field seasons of experience in the Cultural Resource Management sector.

This position is unionized and governed by the Collective Agreement between Stantec Consulting Ltd. and LiUNA, along with applicable Stantec policies.
