Stantec is seeking Field Technicians for the 2026 archaeology season based in Hamilton, ON. This seasonal role focuses on hands-on archaeological fieldwork, excavation, and site documentation.
As a Field Technician, you will work under the guidance of licensed archaeologists to conduct essential Stage 2-4 archaeological activities. This position requires physical stamina and the ability to work in varying weather conditions, ensuring adherence to all health and safety protocols. The role provides an opportunity to engage with Indigenous communities positively.
Key Responsibilities:
• Perform test pit and pedestrian surveys
• Assist in site excavation for archaeological research
• Collect artifacts and maintain thorough site documentation
• Follow safety practices and guidelines on-site
• Build collaborative relationships with Indigenous groups
Requirements:
• Physically demanding outdoor work experience
• Ability to travel within Ontario for fieldwork
• A valid G driver’s license is preferred
• Experience working both in a team and independently
• Desire to learn about archaeological processes
