The Band Representative will engage deeply in court proceedings concerning child welfare under CYFSA. This full-time role demands expertise in liaising with various agencies, supporting families, and ensuring cultural appropriateness in all dispositions. A minimum of three years of experience in social services with First Nations is required to fulfill these responsibilities effectively.
Key Responsibilities:
• Represent First Nation in child welfare court proceedings
• Liaise with legal counsel and other agencies
• Develop and implement care plans for children
• Provide family support and promote cultural aspirations
• Maintain and update client files regularly
Requirements:
• Post-Secondary Diploma in relevant field
• Minimum 3 years in social services with First Nations
• Valid driver's license and vehicle required
• Strong negotiation and advocacy skills
• Knowledge of CYFSA and child welfare procedures
