Our client is a growing and ambitious accountancy practice with a strong reputation for providing high-quality advice and support to businesses and individuals across the South of England. Due to continued growth, they are looking to appoint a Bookkeeper / Payroll & Accounts Assistant to join their Marlborough office.
This is a varied position that combines bookkeeping, payroll and accounts support responsibilities, making it an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working across multiple areas of practice and building strong client relationships.
The RoleAs a Bookkeeper / Payroll & Accounts Assistant, you will play an important role in ensuring clients' bookkeeping and payroll requirements are delivered accurately and on time. You'll maintain high-quality financial records, support the smooth preparation of accounts and tax work, and help provide an excellent service to a varied portfolio of clients.
Key Responsibilities- Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records for a portfolio of clients, ensuring bookkeeping is completed to a high standard and supports efficient preparation of accounts and tax work.
- Prepare and submit VAT records accurately and within deadlines.
- Process payroll for a portfolio of clients, ensuring payroll deadlines are met and pension submissions are completed accurately.
- Provide clients with timely and accurate payroll and financial information.
- Build positive working relationships with clients and colleagues, ensuring information is received promptly and queries are resolved efficiently.
- Support the preparation of accounts and wider client work as required.
- Contribute to the efficient running of the office by identifying opportunities to improve processes, systems and ways of working.
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- AAT Level 2 or Level 3 qualification, or equivalent experience in bookkeeping and payroll.
- Experience using cloud accounting software such as Xero or similar platforms.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to maintain accurate financial records.
- Good organisation and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple client deadlines.
- Confident communication skills and a collaborative approach when working with both clients and colleagues.
- £30,000 - £32,000 salary
