NESC Staffing is seeking an experienced Mechanical or Structural Engineer to support the design and execution of complex energy and industrial projects within a Mechanical Design environment. This role focuses on piping and structural systems, pressure part design, and the technical oversight of outsourced engineering partners. You’ll collaborate with internal teams, vendors, and customers to deliver reliable, large‑scale power and energy solutions.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:- Design and analyze piping systems, ductwork, skids, pressure parts, structural frames, and support systems
- Develop load calculations and load diagrams for equipment, ducting, and steel structures
- Validate structural integrity, code compliance, and constructibility of designs through all project phases
- Perform site assessments to support accurate piping and ductwork layout development
- Build, modify, and maintain 3D analysis models for new and existing designs
- Communicate analysis results clearly through written reports, marked‑up drawings, sketches, and presentations
- Manage and technically review outsourced engineering work, ensuring alignment to scope, schedule, and quality expectations.
- Review drawings, bills of material, and design packages for compliance with applicable codes, standards, ISO procedures, and customer requirements
- Support project schedules, proposals, and estimating efforts as needed
- Interface directly with customers, consultants, suppliers, and cross‑functional internal teams
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Civil, or Structural Engineering (Master’s preferred)
- 5+ years of experience supporting piping, ductwork, pressure parts, and/or related mechanical/structural design
- Strong ability to interpret boiler layouts, piping drawings, isometrics, pipe supports, and P&IDs
- Working knowledge of applicable codes/standards, including ASME BPVC Section I and Section XIII, ASME B31.1 / B31.3, AWS D1.1 / D1.3 and ASME Section IX
- Hands‑on experience with STAAD.Pro and AutoPIPE or CAESAR (CAESAR II accepted if applicable)
- Navisworks experience, including model integration and clash detection
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present technical conclusions to varied audiences
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and perform effectively under pressure
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as project needs require
- PE license (preferred/strongly desired)
