Scientist – Bioreactor Application & Testing
Location:
Marlborough, MA (Onsite)
Join Sartorius in leading and executing technical work packages in a bioreactor application and testing laboratory. You will work hands‑on in the lab, design experiments, analyze data, and collaborate across teams and with customers to drive innovative bioprocess solutions.
Responsibilities- Plan, execute, and drive experimental work packages in upstream process development aligned with project goals and timelines.
- Design and conduct bioreactor experiments (e.g., perfusion, fed‑batch) for mAbs, recombinant proteins, and other biologics.
- Optimize cell culture parameters for mammalian cell lines (CHO, HEK) using Sartorius next‑generation bioreactor systems.
- Analyze and interpret experimental data, ensuring accurate documentation and reporting.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams (downstream, automation, analytics).
- Participate in technology transfer activities to internal and external partners.
- Explore and implement new bioprocessing technologies to advance the state‑of‑the‑art.
- Manage, train, and provide coverage for Associate Scientists and technicians as needed.
- Represent Sartorius in technical discussions with customers, collaborators, and external experts.
- Ph.D. in Biochemical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Biotechnology, or related field; or M.S. with 4+ years industry experience; or B.S. with 7+ years industry experience.
- Hands‑on experience with bioreactor operations (single‑use and/or stainless‑steel systems).
- Demonstrated ability to design and execute experiments, analyze complex data sets, and troubleshoot process issues.
- Industry experience with mammalian cell culture and biologics manufacturing workflows.
- Experience mentoring and training junior scientists or technicians.
- Familiarity with GMP principles, regulatory guidelines (FDA, EMA, ICH). Technology transfer experience is a plus.
- Analytical and conceptual thinker who solves complex problems.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects.
- Excellent written and verbal communication for technical and cross‑functional audiences.

- Travel up to 10% domestic and international; up to 50% in 2025 for lab relocation activities.
- Work in a Biosafety Level 2 laboratory. Occasional extended hours or weekends may be required.
Salary: $85,000 – $107,000 (dependent on qualification, experience and location).
