OverviewThe Awake Overnight Direct Support Staff is responsible for ensuring the health and safety of all individuals during the night. This includes being available to provide any assistance needed during the night, staying awake during the shift, and assisting with morning activities as needed.
Starting rate: $18.50/hour.
Shift Details- Shift: Third Shift, Sunday 11 p–9 a.
- Remain alert and respond to individual needs.
- Assist with morning activities, including advising on weather‑appropriate clothing, preparing lunch, and other day program necessities.
- Lift and transfer individuals as needed.
- Provide a safe living environment through compliance with agency policies, OSHA, and other safety standards.
- Train individuals in nighttime fire drills and conduct regular drills to ensure safe evacuation during a fire or fire drill.
- Provide transportation of individuals to day programs as needed.
- Assist with home maintenance and perform cleaning duties as assigned.
- Implement established treatment programs.
- Report significant health, psychiatric, or behavioral issues to the on‑call person per program procedure.
- Prepare summaries of interaction and objective behavioral observations of individuals at shift end; maintain clinical notes and data collection using Microsoft Outlook.
- Perform physical intervention in the event of an individual’s crisis.
- Attend trainings as assigned; maintain necessary certifications (CPR/First Aid, MAP, SOLVE, HR/DPPC).
- Ensure that individuals we support are treated with dignity and respect in accordance with Advocates’ Human Rights policy.
- High school diploma or equivalent degree. Experience working with the population preferred.
- Excellent interpersonal, judgment, and coaching skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to utilize basic computer applications.
- Desire to thrive in a fast‑paced, client‑centered, team‑oriented environment.
- Must hold a valid driver’s license; have access to an operational and insured vehicle and be willing to use it to transport clients.
- Strongly prefer a candidate demonstrating competence in serving culturally diverse populations.
High School Diploma/GED.
