Retail & Store Manager
The Retail Director - Natural Specialty is responsible for the coordination and development of the Retail Sales and Merchandising Organization for the market/team. They must be able to lead, manage and coach activities of the Retail Sales Managers and Unit Managers to ensure the sales and merchandising objectives of the company and clients are achieved.
RESPONSIBILITIES Essential FunctionsDevelop and maintain consistent communication and rapport with clients and customers to address opportunities and expectations.
To implement and manage client objectives.
To learn 360 (store mapping & retail objectives)
Provide leadership and direction to downstream team for both east and central.
To motivate and develop Sales Managers and Unit Managers.
To oversee and coordinate retail deployment to maximize retail effectiveness.
To monitor progress and provide performance data reviewing monthly turnover orders and store cadence.
To formally evaluate Sales Managers’ and Unit Managers’ performance on sales and merchandising objectives.
Perform periodic evaluations on Sales Managers and Unit Managers to continue the development of personnel.
Responsible for monthly Topps call with Customer Managers to go over client's goals and objectives.
Work with Senior Customer Managers to establish client connects and retail ride along.
Assist Market Managers and Sales Managers to develop manpower and staffing plans for retail organizations.
Analyze manpower planning and deployment with DMS and RW3.
Recruit and select Retail Sales Managers and Unit Managers.
Develop retail activity cost analysis to determine profitability of clients.
Other duties as assigned
High School diploma or equivalent
Bachelor’s degree preferred
5+ years of consumer-packaged goods experience
Distributor knowledge - UNFI or Kehe
Sales, marketing, merchandising and/or administration experience required
Good office management and time management skills.
Ability to exercise influence over people
Be able to prioritize multiple demands simultaneously
Strong interpersonal and written
Communication skills, including ability to conduct presentations
Proven analytical ability with strong attention to detail
Ability to manage a Profit and loss center
Assertive, decisive, creative, team player and with proven sense of urgency
Negotiation skills and ability to delegate
Strong interpersonal and highly developed writing skills; acute attention to detail
Must be proficient in PowerPoint, Word and Excel
Sit for extended periods (typically 6+ hours per day)
Use a computer, including keyboard and mouse, for prolonged periods
Lift and carry light items (e.g., files, office supplies, laptops, typically 20+ pounds)
Reach, bend, or stoop occasionally to access files or office materials
Maintain focus and attention for long periods of desk-based work
Follow clear directions
Perform repetitive motions (e.g., typing, clicking) consistently throughout the day
