International Trade Compliance Officer

Salary: £40-45k DOE

We're recruiting for an ITC Officer to join a leading engineering and manufacturing business in a highly regulated defence and aerospace environment. The role supports the ITC Manager and the wider business in ensuring compliance with UK and US export control regulations, providing guidance to internal stakeholders and supporting critical import and export activities.

• Maintain export classifications within the ERP system.
• Update export control information on sales orders, including licence selection and order clearance.
• Screen customers and suppliers against relevant compliance requirements.
• Manage documentation relating to imports and exports to ensure audit readiness.
• Liaise with Chambers of Commerce regarding Carnets and Certificates of Origin.
• Support compliance with UK Export Control regulations.
• Support adherence to US ITAR, EAR and Dual-Use regulations.
• Assist with ECJU, HMRC and other compliance audits and visits.
• Provide guidance to engineering, procurement, commercial and project teams on export control requirements.

Essential:

• Understanding of UK import and export compliance requirements.
• Working knowledge of ITAR, EAR and export control regulations.
• Strong attention to detail and record‑keeping skills.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder‑management abilities.
• Ability to work effectively within a fast‑paced, customer‑focused environment.
• Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities.

Desirable:

• Experience working within a Trade Compliance, Export Control or Regulatory Compliance function.
• Experience supporting government or regulatory audits.
• Commercial awareness and understanding of working within a business‑focused environment.
• Familiarity with ERP systems and export licence management processes.
