The Hospice Manager manages one or more defined areas of nursing responsibilities, provides direct supervision of assigned staff, collaborates with interdisciplinary teams, and is accountable for creating a professional practice environment that promotes shared decision‑making and professional autonomy. The role requires 24‑hour accountability for assigned teams and involves clinical and administrative leadership grounded in ethical principles.
Position Responsibilities- Coordinate and conduct Hospice Interdisciplinary Team Meetings and Case Conferences; serve as Administrative on‑call for Hospice.
- Conduct chart audit/reviews and supervisory field visits of staff.
- Obtain and verify orders, including hospice orders, comfort medications, narcotics, etc.
- Align clinical needs with employee skill sets and competence; empower staff to participate in decision‑making.
- Drive recruitment, selection, and retention processes.
- Oversee ongoing orientation, staff education, and skills development.
- Ensure coordination of nursing services with other members of the hospice care team; accept organizational accountability for services provided.
- Evaluate quality, safety, and appropriateness of care using patient outcome data and take appropriate actions based on results.
- Develop, monitor, and be accountable for the financial performance of the assigned departments; allocate resources to promote efficient, effective, safe, and compassionate nursing care.
- Participate in accrediting surveys.
Three to five years of hospice or home care experience; two years of supervisory experience preferred.
Required EducationBSN required. Excellent organizational and computer skills, leadership, and customer‑focus skills.
Training / Certification / LicensureNJ licensure and CPR certification.
