Snow Sports School Instructor - Seasonal Job Purpose

The Snow Sports Instructors are passionate about skiing and snowboarding and teaching others to love our sport. Snow Sports Instructors teach ski and snowboard classes in our private, group, and adult programs.

Description

This is a seasonal position Oct 17, 2025 - April 14, 2026. Status:

Part Time

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Uphold the highest levels of guest safety on varied terrain in high altitude, with varying winter weather conditions in a fast paced, potentially high-pressure environment.
  • Clearly and accurately instruct assigned levels of skiing or snowboarding to students, both physically and verbally.
  • Assist guests to load and unload the chairlift.
  • Communicate instructions and help guests back to their feet during a lesson.
  • Work with guests of all ages and abilities.
  • When working with children: supervise children in class at all times, assist at lunch and snack times, and ensure return of children to identified guardian.
  • When working with children: assist in operational responsibilities of Ski & Snowboard programs including but not limited to registration process, directing guests to appropriate equipment fitting source, upkeep of outdoor teaching areas, and cleanliness of facilities.
  • Perform all other job duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • High School equivalent education.
  • Successfully complete a training camp and observation day.
  • Capable of comfortably skiing/snowboarding on groomed blue runs.
  • Physical ability to respond appropriately to emergency and other unplanned situations.
  • Must be able to stand and walk on snow for extended periods of time; must be able to bend and squat.
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
  • Must have experience working with people.
  • Must have good guest service skills.
  • Must have good communication skills.
  • Must work well in a team.
  • Must successfully complete the background check.
  • Must be able to work in inclement weather in an alpine environment.
  • Must have sight, speech, and hearing abilities sufficient to learn skills, follow and provide directions.

Education

High School Diploma or Equivalent.

Experience and/or Training

Previous instructing experience preferred.

Licenses/Certificates

NA.

Technology/Equipment

Computers, Smart Phones, Tablets, Alpine Ski and Snowboard.

Physical and Mental Demands
  • Must have the ability to lift up to 50 lbs and carry 50 yards.
  • Must be able to work outside in temperatures below 32 degrees for up to 8 hours.
  • Must be able to work in a standing position for up to 8 hours.
  • Must have at least intermediate skiing/snowboarding ability.

  • Drills and drill bits.
  • Mats, cones, other teaching aids.
  • Aerial and surface lifts.
  • Skis or Snowboard.
Working Environment
  • Harsh outside weather conditions.
  • Occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; extreme cold; extreme heat; risk of electrical shock; and vibration.
  • Noise level in the work environment may occasionally be loud.
  • Regularly work near moving mechanical parts and exposed to outdoor weather conditions and vibration.
