Overview
Telemetry Monitor Tech, Telemetry 1.0NV 12 Hour Shift ) -
Responsibilities- Maintains ongoing, high-level surveillance of patient’s cardiac rhythms and notifies nursing/clinicians of any rate/rhythm changes according to clinician/provider orders.
- Monitors and interprets patient’s heart rhythm and documents on patient record per departmental standards.
- Initiates and discontinues monitoring equipment on admission, transfer, or discharge.
- Performs clerical duties related to admission, discharge, and documentation of patient information on Telemetry.
- Answers telephone and communicates clearly when receiving information from units or providers.
- Uses clear and complete communication with unit personnel when delivering information about changes in patient rhythm.
- Orients and mentors new staff members.
- Serves as a resource for training and troubleshooting to both Central Telemetry and clinical areas.
- Troubleshoots monitors with nursing staff and contacts Clinical Engineering as appropriate.
- Gives report to oncoming shift.
- Prioritizes and organizes work assignment and adjusts priorities based on changing situations.
- Maintains and stocks all designated equipment, including telemetry.
- Cleans, disinfects and stores leads and telemetry units.
- Replaces defective equipment and reports failures to Clinical Engineering.
- Adheres to confidentiality of information acquired pertaining to patients, clinicians, employees, and visitors.
- Develops a rapport and cooperative relationship with nursing and clinical staff and responds to questions/requests from healthcare providers.
- Performs job responsibilities in accordance with the Mission, Vision, and Values of UPHS-Marquette
- Performs other duties as requested.
Education:
High school diploma or GED
Successful completion of UPHS Marquette Strictly Rhythm Class and EKG exam prior to completion of orientation.
Degrees, Licensure, and/or Certification:
Possess and maintain current certification in American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) for Health care Providers
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of basic anatomy/physiology of the heart. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, clinicians, and the general public. Ability to work under moderate pressure for extended periods of time. Ability to accept responsibility for accuracy and response times to emergent and non-emergent requests. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely.
