- Teach undergraduate and graduate courses.
- Provide clinical supervision in the on-campus speech-language-hearing clinic.
- Contribute to research and scholarly activities leading to publication and external funding.
- Participate actively in departmental, university, and community service.
- Show flexibility in teaching and supervision assignments to meet evolving program needs.
- Master's Degree.
- Discipline/Degree Area:
Communication Sciences and Disorders;
Speech-Language Pathology. - Master's degree in speech-language pathology;
Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology. - Michigan License in Speech-Language Pathology by appointment start date.
- 5 years of clinical experience in Speech-Language Pathology or teaching experience.
- Must meet ASHA requirements to provide clinical supervision to students.
- Knowledge of human communication and swallowing processes and their disorders.
- Advanced knowledge and skill in treatment and evaluation of communication and/or swallowing disorders.
- Knowledge of principles, procedures, and techniques for speech-language pathology therapy and rehabilitation.
- Knowledge of laws, regulations, and guidelines for the delivery of speech-language pathology therapy and rehabilitation.
- Sensitivity in handling confidential client information.
- Strong oral and written communication skills with faculty, administration, and external partners.
- Writing skills adequate to secure external funding.
- Collegiality in working collaboratively within the department and across disciplines.
- Competence in interactions with external affiliate partners and regulatory/accrediting organizations.
- Strong abilities in teaching and instruction of individuals and groups.
- Desire to inspire and develop future professionals in the field of speech-language pathology and audiology.
- Ability to teach and interact with students of all ages, from freshmen to nontraditional students.
- Ability to be flexible in teaching and supervisory assignments.
- University teaching experience.
- Experience in a CAA accredited SLP graduate program.
- Record of supervision in the clinical setting.
- Experience in web-based teaching.
- Expertise or strong interest in anatomy and physiology, speech science, or dysphagia/feeding; strengths in other relevant areas also considered.
