• Responds to calls for emergency medical services and provides patient care as directed and/or determined necessary.
• Safely navigates ambulance to patient’s location. Provides stabilization of scene and requests additional assistance as necessary.
• Determines nature and extent of illness or injury and patient’s history from available sources.
• Administers emergency medical care within scope of practice, including patient stabilization, monitoring, and resuscitation, from the scene to receiving medical facility.
• Contacts medical personnel, reports/records observations, and follows directives from supervising Physician or Registered Nurse.
• Maintains equipment, restocks supplies and cleans ambulance as necessary.

• Successfully completed MDHHS approved Paramedic course.
• Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
• Paramedic license.
• Valid Michigan driver’s license.
• Basic Life Support Health Care Provider (BLS-HCP).
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) (Preferred).
• Trauma Course (ITLS or PHTLS) (Preferred).
• Neonatal Resuscitation Provider (NRP) (Preferred).
• Coaching the Emergency Vehicle Operator (CEVO), VFIS Driver Training, or equivalent (preferred).
• 6 months field experience in EMS (Preferred).
