In this role you will support patients and families with the financial aspects of hospitalization and outpatient visits. UP Health System - Marquette is a 222-bed hospital in Marquette, MI with the region's only Level II Trauma Center and Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). We aim to empower a diverse and determined workforce to drive quality and impact for our hospitals and communities.

The Patient Financial Services Representative coordinates all financial aspects of the patient's hospitalization and/or office visits.

• Interprets and explains to patients and their families charges, services and hospital policy regarding payment of bills.
• Bills third parties in accordance with standard procedures.
• Maintains departmental records, reports, and files accurately.
• Provides information to patients/families in a manner that considers safety, comfort, privacy and therapeutic environment.
• Maintains a strict sense of accountability.

High school diploma or equivalent

Years of relevant experience may be substituted for required education.

Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

1 year related experience

3 Years In Hospital/ Physician Setting (Preferred)

Formal training in CPT and/or ICD
10 coding (Preferred)
