UP Health System - Marquette is a 222-bed hospital in Marquette, MI with the region's only Level II Trauma Center and Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). WhatYou'll Contribute
The Patient Financial Services Representative coordinates all financial aspects of the patient's hospitalization and/or office visits.
Essential Functions- Interprets and explains to patients and their families charges, services and hospital policy regarding payment of bills.
- Bills third parties in accordance with standard procedures.
- Maintains departmental records, reports, and files accurately.
- Provides information to patients/families in a manner that considers safety, comfort, privacy and therapeutic environment.
- Maintains a strict sense of accountability.
Minimum Education
High school diploma or equivalent
Years of relevant experience may be substituted for required education.
Required SkillsRequires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
Minimum Work Experience1 year related experience
3 Years In Hospital/ Physician Setting (Preferred)
Formal training in CPT and/or ICD
10 coding (Preferred)
