Roleand Team
Working on the UPHSM team as a Surgical Technician puts you in a key role for many of our patients and physicians. You will work side-by-side with physicians in order to ensure that all materials necessary for the procedures at hand are prepared, you will also directly assist the physicians with the use of these materials. Patients will rely on you to make sure they are well taken care of and that their procedures are successful.
You will have the opportunity to interact with many of these patients in a friendly demeanor that will put them at ease.
You will be joining a cohesive team of individuals with many different skillsets which can provide you the opportunity to learn and grow. Techs will be able to hone their skills while helping to make a genuine difference in the patient experience. Candidates will have a personality that is open to learning and change as well as the ability to remain calm under pressure.

- Our patients and the care they receive is our highest priority. An ideal candidate will take pride in putting their best foot forward every day to make sure that the UPHSM team has the patient on the forefront of everything we do.
- Moderate physical effort may be required including lifting 25 pounds or more, prolonged standing and walking, and manual dexterity.
- You’ll be working closely with physicians and surgeons, so being able to adapt quickly to many different personalities will be important for your success.
- Given the unpredictable nature of healthcare, there may be times when you will be asked to contribute more or less time than you are traditionally scheduled for.

- Applicants will have completed a certified surgical technology program
- Current knowledge of sterilization techniques
- Basic instrumentation knowledge
- An understanding of medical terminology
- Basic Life Support Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP)
