Job Description
Radiation Therapist PRN, Radiation Oncology .0F ) -
DescriptionProvides radiation therapy/simulation to patients as prescribed by Physicians according to established standards and practices.
Qualifications- Maintains established hospital and departmental policies and procedures, objectives, performance improvement program, safety, environment of care, management of information, and infection control standards.
- Utilizes excellent customer service skills at all times.
- Complies with federal and state law and accrediting and licensing agencies at all times, to include but not limited to, JCAHO and federal compliance regulations.
- Delivers accurately the prescribed planned course of radiation therapy with minimal supervision.
- Observes patient for unusual reactions and events.
- Observes radiation safety measures for patient and personnel.
- Simulates patients according to Radiation Oncologist’s instruction.
- Fabricates immobilization devices, and blocks, custom blocks, bolus, etc.
- Maintains records of daily treatment and other records as required.
- Maintains quality assurance logs/data as assigned.
- Secures and maintains supplies as assigned.
- Reports erratic operation of equipment to the Director and the Radiation Physicist in a timely fashion.
- Attends departmental conferences and participates in chart rounds.
- Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, inservice meetings, and professional conferences.
- Participates and attends meetings and in services as required and/or assigned.
- Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.
- Associate’s Degree – Accredited program in Radiologic Technology, and course in Radiation Therapy
- Registered/registry eligible by ARRT and passes active license (current) as necessary
- Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
- Lifts, positions, pushes and/or transfers patients
- Lifts supplies/equipment
- Frequent prolonged standing/walking
- Manual dexterity and mobility
- Subject to electrical and radiant energy hazards
- Subject to injury from moving parts of equipment
- May be exposed to infections and contagious diseases
- Contact with patients under wide variety of circumstances
- Subject to many interruptions
- Occasional pressure due to multiple calls and inquiries
- Occasionally exposed to radiation hazards
