Responsibilities
Maintains established hospital and departmental policies and procedures, objectives, performance improvement program, safety, environment of care, management of information, and infection control standards.Utilizes excellent customer service skills at all times.Complies with federal and state law and accrediting and licensing agencies at all times, to include but not limited to, the Joint Commission and federal compliance regulations.Actively participates and contributes to the development of departmental and service line quality goals and objectives as required.Participates in the analysis of quality, patient satisfaction, patient safety and utilization data. Provides assistance in developing ICU performance improvement plans that are data-driven including Keystone ICU initiatives.Assists in the development, coordination, and collaboration of departmental/service line performance improvement/quality assurance activities including report generation for the Quality Council/Board Quality Committee.Demonstrates minimum acceptable knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patient population serviced, based on physical, psychological, educational and safety needs. Models collegiality, cooperation and collaboration in all instances.Assists in the ICU M&M process and peer review as appropriate and requested.Participates in the development and implementation of best-practice transition of care (“hand-off”) processes and evidence-based care pathways. Assists in educating staff and students as necessary.Supports the operationalization of the EMR and CPOE.Participates in the management of a broad spectrum of critical illnesses including post-op, respiratory failure, sepsis, trauma and multi-organ disorders.Assists with and/or performs critical care unit procedures including but not limited to simple suture placement, chest tube placement, insertion of intravascular monitoring devices, emergency needle thoracostomy and emergency airway management.Assists with coordination of care between Intensivists, referring providers and the patient.Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, inservice meetings and professional conferences.Participates and attends meetings and in services as required and/or assigned.Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.Qualifications
Minimum Education: Graduate of a Certified Physician Assistant Program

- Master of Science degree in Advanced Practice NursingMinimum Experience: Two years in an inpatient clinical setting with direct patient care in a critical care unitRequired Certification: Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)Required Licensure: Licensed in the State of Michigan as a nurse practitioner
