Overview

FAR Inspections is looking for highly motivated individuals to perform residential occupancy verifications on behalf of mortgage lenders. Independent contractors earn predictable full‑time or supplemental income with a flexible schedule. Experience with mortgage field inspections is not required, but the ability to manage time and meet deadlines is crucial. Based in Reno, NV, FAR Inspections has been in business for over 9 years.

Mortgage lenders require periodic updates on their properties and send independent contractors to conduct inspections. The purpose of the inspection is to verify property occupancy and report on the general condition of the property using a mobile application. Most inspections are exterior only; about 10% require interior photos after the property has gone vacant.

• Complete most inspections within 5-6 minutes.
• Finish the inspection within 4 days after it is assigned.
• Report general property conditions and determine occupancy based on industry standards.
• Take 9+ photos of the property with brief comments.
• Fill in a short form in an app.
• Travel extended periods driving while making numerous stops during the day in the assigned territory.

• Computer with internet connection.
• Reliable vehicle (good gas mileage is a plus as you pay for your own gas).
• Smartphone (Android or iPhone).
• Printer.
• Pass a standard background check using a valid driver's license.

This is a 1099 position. Each inspection has a flat rate that varies by county and volume. While you are paid per inspection, you will earn the equivalent of $30–$40 per hour. Depending on the county and whether it is urban or rural, you can complete anywhere from 20 to 500 inspections per month, working 2–30 hours per week. Lower‑volume counties have higher rates and higher‑volume counties have lower rates.

Work is consistent month to month and you can earn more as you become established, have greater availability, or cover a larger territory. No additional mileage reimbursement beyond the flat fee per inspection.
