Overview

Process Coach, Material Handling, Blue Oval Battery Park Michigan. Ford Motor Company is launching a new state-of-the-art facility in Marshall, Michigan, producing lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery cells to power next-generation Ford EVs. This role is part of the launch team driving the electrification transformation and requires leading material handling operations and continuous improvement efforts.

Responsibilities
  • Team Leadership & Development:
    Build team capability, lead and manage hourly personnel development, drive communication and recognition, and create a conducive work environment for assigned responsibilities.
  • Operational Excellence & Daily Management:
    Coach safety, quality, and productivity to meet objectives via standardized work; manage daily material handling functions; ensure proper material flow from marketplace to production line; allocate resources to cover material handling duties; monitor Andon occurrences and provide secondary support; verify line performance through Process Confirmation to ensure safety, smooth operation, and quality parts.
  • Continuous Improvement & Ford Production System:
    Support Continuous Improvement efforts, coach problem resolution to the lowest level, and enable synchronous material flow through lean manufacturing practices.
  • Supervisory & Administrative Tasks:
    Perform basic supervisory administration and documentation.

Ability to work nights, weekends, and rotating shifts.

Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 3+ years of working experience in a logistics planning position in a manufacturing plant
  • More than three years of lean logistics improvement project experience
  • At least 2 years of experience in system audits (e.g., process, safety)
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles, constraint management principles, logistics planning, and management
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word/Excel/PowerPoint/Outlook)
  • Familiar with ERP system background logic (e.g., SAP, MES, LES)

Even Better, You’ll Have…

  • Bachelor’s degree or above, preferably in Industrial Engineering/Engineering/Logistics or related field, or equivalent experience
  • Experience in Automotive MP&L (Material Planning & Logistics) and Logistics projects, warehousing and logistics planning, and logistics automation project implementation
  • Analytical & problem-solving skills: data interpretation, line balancing, time study, material flow, capacity planning
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills in English; team-oriented and proactive
  • Adaptability, proactive work ethic, and ability to work under pressure with shifting schedules
  • Leadership potential: ability to assign work to a unionized hourly workforce and uphold safety, quality, and throughput processes
