Maintenance Technician I - Plant OperationsJob Definition: To provide an effective and responsive service by means of carrying out semi-skilled maintenance duties and providing the hospital with a well-maintained, clean, physically safe, accessible, and welcoming environment for patients, staff, and visitors.
Essential Functions:
- Consistently uses an outward mindset and puts forth exemplary effort in accomplishing goals and objectives in a manner that helps others achieve theirs.
- Occasionally required to meet with contractors and monitor their work in the vicinity.
- Understands basics of electrical/mechanical engineering and basic building principles to carry out maintenance tasks.
- Carries out electrical portable appliance testing.
- Organizes daily work patterns around identified demands and priorities.
- Uses all relevant and appropriate tools/equipment, including those specialized to specific duties/trades.
- Performs meter readings and monitors deliveries of oil and other consumables according to local procedures.
- Provides a well-maintained, clean, physically safe, accessible, and welcoming environment for patients, staff, and visitors.
- Carries out general and planned maintenance routines on electrical, mechanical, and plant equipment.
- Carries out minor installation work.
- Maintains workshops and other engineering spaces in a clean and organized condition.
- Completes log sheets, report sheets, and test certificates.
Minimum Qualifications: A high school diploma and two years of experience associated with the trade area(s) related to the role; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Must possess a valid driver’s license.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Must have effective interpersonal skills in all areas of communication with strong oral communication skills. Must be able to work independently, capable of solving problems using good judgment, and work in a self-directed and collaborative environment. Must have the ability to operate a personal computer and possess basic math skills.
Working Conditions: May occasionally be exposed to infectious diseases, hazardous materials, and various degrees of weather.
Physical Requirements: Constantly stand, walk, reach, see/visual acuity, handle/grasp/feel, talk/hear, taste/smell. Frequently push/pull, bend/twist, stoop/kneel/crouch, lift/carry 1 to 25 lbs. Occasionally lift/carry 25 to 50+ lbs.
