ABE is seeking applications for the position of Technology and Teacher Assistant in Walnut Grove, MN.The Technology and Teacher Assistant play a crucial role in supporting adult English Language Learners in a hybrid classroom environment. This role involves aiding the ABE Teacher (who instructs remotely), providing on-site technical assistance to students, and offering general classroom management and support. The assistant is the essential on-site presence to ensure smooth and effective learning experience.

Job Duties and Responsibilities
This position requires the assistant to be the essential on-site presence, executing tasks across three main areas:
- Troubleshoot basic technology issues for students and the remote teacher (e.g., connecting to Zoom, ensuring proper use of software, basic device functionality).
- Manage the checkout process for student take-home devices, including maintaining accurate inventory and securing unused devices at the end of class.
- Open and set up the classroom and necessary technology prior to class beginning.
- Perform daily classroom tasks efficiently as directed by the teacher.
- Clean up and securely lock the classroom and other designated doors after class ends.
- Effectively present information and respond to questions from students, staff, and administrators.
- Report classroom issues or student concerns to the remote teacher promptly.
- Direct students to the appropriate person (teacher or administrator) for questions or concerns the assistant cannot resolve.
- Use the school email system for all work correspondence.
- Perform other duties as assigned with flexibility.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse groups.
- Empathetic and participant-focused approach when assisting students.
- Ability to be self-directed and work efficiently without direct, on-site supervision.
- High level of honesty and ethical action in all duties.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to multitask and manage time effectively during class hours.
- Effective problem-solving abilities to address immediate classroom or technical needs.
- Flexibility and willingness to learn new skills and tasks quickly.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Intermediate computer skills, including demonstrated proficiency with video conferencing software like Zoom and basic device troubleshooting (laptops, tablets, connectivity).
- Ability to speak the Hmong language is preferred but not required.
