** Job Summary
** Vancouver Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services is looking for enthusiastic candidates that are skilled in working with all ages and abilities in pottery. As a pottery instructor, you will represent the City in a capacity to demonstrate and verbally instruct effective techniques like wheel throwing, hand-building, and glazing. You will need to have knowledge of kilns, such as cleaning and loading, as well as different types of clay.

You will need to communicate and work well with all program participants, other staff, and any individuals contacted in the course of work. Safety standards and facility policies are to be met at all times.

* Essential Functions:

* Previous work, volunteer experience or training with a pottery background/or pottery studio conducting pottery classes.
* Ability to instruct all levels of participants and motivate class in a fun and friendly manner.
* Able to lift and/or move objects weighing up to 25 pounds on a frequent basis.
* Previous experience working with people with special needs is desirable.
* Perform other duties as required through assigned program##

* Minimum Qualifications:

* Be at least 18 years of age.
* Work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends.
* Respond quickly and effectively in an emergency situation.
* Able to maintain a calm and professional demeanor at all times, including emergencies.
* Maintain a professional appearance, adhere to dress code and provide excellent customer service.
* Establish and maintain effective work relationships with the public, program participant and other City employees.
* Interact well with a diverse group of program participants
* Read, write and follow instructions.
* Monitor compliance policies and procedures.
