Basic Function

The Laboratory Manager is responsible for effectively managing the Marshall Technology Center, applying industry standards, developing test equipment and procedures, and coordinating with cross‑functional teams.

Principle Duties And Responsibilities
  • Preparing yearly budget and management plan.
  • Setting variable‑efficiency improvement targets.
  • Developing and managing the execution of action plans to achieve targets.
  • Managing variable cost within established budget.
  • Preparing bi‑weekly work progress reports.
  • Hiring and maintaining qualified staff and workforce.
  • Providing a safe working environment.
  • Implementing and maintaining a high standard for quality and service level.
  • Maintaining equipment.
  • Preparing capital expenditure proposals.
  • Regularly meeting with customers and customer representatives visiting the facility.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Effective verbal and written communication.
  • Accurately scoping tasks and projects, organizing work into logical steps, using time effectively, and establishing priorities.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Sound technical skills and attention to detail.
  • Commitment to workplace safety for self and others.
  • Results‑oriented, persisting in the face of obstacles.
  • Problem‑solving techniques using gathered information.
  • Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology.
  • Concise and articulate communication; asks open‑ended questions.
  • .NET programming experience is desired.
  • LabVIEW, SharePoint, Power Apps, and workflow experience are a plus.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or equivalent, preferably Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Formal laboratory training is preferred.
  • Experience in electrical testing or related field is a plus.
  • PC literate; experience with Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • SharePoint and workflow experience are a plus.
Work Environment/Physical Demands

Requires visual and mental attention to detail when working around cutting equipment, hot surfaces, high‑voltage test equipment, and accurate recording of results.

Other

Work involves possible exposure to lethal high voltages in electrical test areas, requiring automatic and manual grounding protection.
