The Product Test Engineer is responsible for verifying the capability of Fisher products so they can be certified for use in hazardous environments. They will work closely with design, certification, and third-party approval agencies to create and complete test programs on new electronic products. The Test Engineer is responsible for leading our lab activities ensuring that quality and certification requirements are achieved.

* This is not a software testing role
- Prepare and maintain certifications, procedures, as well as provide support for existing products and new product design.
- Understand company quality manuals as well as pertinent standards such as ISO 9001 and 17025.
- Understand hazardous and ordinary location standards and perform testing to permit certification of new and existing products.
- Understand product requirements and develop certification testing strategies to meet those requirements.
- Create technical justification and prepare technical documents to demonstrate compliance and support product certification.
- Conduct tests in product certification lab.
- Serve as a safety leader with responsibility for creating, maintaining, training, policies, and procedures.
- Provides technical leadership on improvement projects and evaluate time, cost and benefits to determine project feasibility.
- Manage supplier relations with equipment service providers and mechanical and process control engineering contractors.
- Participate in Audits as required
- Work alongside product design and project management teams to perform testing that will permit product certification.
- Interface with third party certification agencies to establish lab certification and perform testing that aligns with certification agency expectations.
- You carefully consider all relevant factors and use appropriate decision‑making criteria and principles
- You seek ways to improve processes, from small tweaks to complete reengineering
- You effectively communicate in various settings: one‑on‑one, small and large groups, or among diverse styles and position levels
- You look for obstacles and develop excellent contingency plans
- You anticipate conflicts before they happen, based on knowledge of interpersonal and group dynamics
- You take time to ask questions and define the problem and make learning a priority and a goal.
- 5+ years of testing or manufacturing experience with demonstrated technical knowledge in process system design and maintenance.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Industrial Technology or related field
- Legal authorization work in the United States
- Sponsorship will not be provided for this role
- Have an interest in industry standards and how they impact product design and development.
- Demonstrated safety mindset
- Proven mechanical proficiency with hands‑on mechanical experience
- Attention to detail and documentation skills are required
- Knowledge of software such as Delta
V and LabVIEW (desired) - Knowledge of product safety standards (FM, CSA, ATEX, IECEx) is desirable.
- Certified ISO 9001 Internal Auditor (desired)
- ISO/IEC 17025 Trained (desired)
