Serves as principal assistant to the Fire Chief in the management of the City’s Fire Department; does related work as required.

Acceptable Experience and Training

• Graduation from an accredited college with an Associate Degree in Fire Science or a closely related field, Bachelor's degree preferred, and Firefighter II, EMT;
• Seven years of responsible experience to include command, supervisory, management, and training experience;
  Or
• Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the work.

Required Special Qualifications

• Completion of initial and continuing fire training and educational requirements as established by the City;
• Knowledge of Fire Code Inspection Practices preferred.
• Possession of a Fire Service Instructor I Certificate.
• Will be certified as Instructor II within two years of appointment.
