Position SummaryThe X‑Ray Tech/Medical Assistant is responsible for providing basic clinical care to patients. Duties include performing initial clinical evaluations and directed procedures for urgent‑care settings, x‑ray testing using knowledge of anatomy and physiology, preparing patients for evaluation by advanced registered nurse practitioners, taking a brief medical history, establishing vital signs, and documenting encounters. The technician also aids in patient flow at the front desk and assists with front‑office tasks as needed.
KeyTasks and Responsibilities
- Minimal patient lifting required.
- Greets patients politely, promptly, and helpfully.
- Checks patients in and out at the front desk to ensure smooth patient flow.
- Communicates wait times and next steps to patients.
- Provides solutions to patient problems and seeks help in emergent or hazardous situations.
- Follows up on lab and x‑ray results in a timely manner.
- Assists with check‑in/out procedures when necessary.
- Obtains and documents patient vital signs, weight, brief history, past medical/family/social history, current medications, allergies, and other pertinent information.
- Administers medications as ordered by the provider and within licensure/certification limits.
- Performs CLIA‑waived lab tests, draws blood, collects and labels specimens, conducts DOT and non‑DOT urine drug screens, and breath alcohol testing (BAT).
- Prepares patients for radiologic procedures, ensuring patient safety and proper radiation protection/shielding.
- Maintains equipment functionality and reports malfunctions to the Center Manager or designee.
- Completes required documentation and paperwork related to patient visits.
- Maintains a clean examination room and restocks supplies as needed.
- Adheres to infection control, safety guidelines, and patient confidentiality policies.
- Performs phlebotomy, injections, and other lab procedures under clinician direction.
- Performs additional duties as assigned.
- Acts with honesty and integrity in all business transactions, including employment applications, patient records, time records, and financial transactions.

Job Description
- Performs radiologic imaging procedures on appropriate anatomical regions in accordance with accepted practice standards and clinic protocols.
- Completes and signs Patient Screening forms, explaining procedures to patients.
- Maintains patient care, comfort, and safety throughout imaging.
- Provides images to the facility in the desired format.
- Conducts equipment quality checks and troubleshoots problems, calling for service when necessary.
- Maintains a clean environment inside the imaging area.
- Follows quality assurance guidelines while safeguarding patient confidentiality.
- Performs additional duties as required.
- Graduate of an approved two‑year Radiologic Technology program or LMRT program.
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- Registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists or be registry‑eligible and possess a current Iowa license.
- Can interact with client personnel and team members autonomously, responsibly, professionally, and ethically.
- Can produce high‑quality special imaging with little supervision.
- Willing and able to assist the radiologist in exam interpretation.
- Function effectively in a team‑oriented environment.
- Flexible, reliable, and demonstrates sound judgment and initiative.
- Can lift a minimum of 60 pounds and assist with patient maneuvering.
- Demonstrated competency in all applicable areas.
