Overview
The Iowa Veterans Home is looking for an experienced, motivated Registered Nurse to join our team as a day shift Nurse Clinician
.
The Nurse Clinician functions as a Primary Nurse for an assigned group of residents, partnering with the day shift Nurse Supervisor to ensure our residents maintain their highest level of physical and psychological functioning.
ResponsibilitiesDaily responsibilities may include:
- In collaboration with the Nurse Supervisor; the Nurse Clinician assesses, plans, and directs the care of up to 30 residents on their assigned unit. Evaluates the effectiveness, ensures the care plan accurately reflects the resident s care needs, and is carried out as prescribed over all 3 shifts.
- Assesses residents for acute changes. Completes new admissions, hospital returns, skin assessments, lab draws, doctor s clinics, etc. Manages external referrals and appointments for residents on their caseload.
- Assists with clinical coverage every third weekend and PRN during the week.
- Completes regular chart reviews and assessments including care plan updates and reviews, behavior notes, and assists with RAI assessments as needed.
- Is a role model to their team in all aspects of nursing practice. Mentors all levels of nursing staff ensuring daily care to the residents is delivered according to their care plan and following best practice standards.
