Reports to:
District Store Director, Store Manager, Assistant Managers of Perishables, Store Operations, Health Wellness & Home, and Bakery Department Manager.
Supervises:
Apprentice Baker, Bakery Designer, Wrapper, Fryer.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Deliver prompt, friendly customer service; greet customers with a smile.
- Assist customers with locating products, securing items out of reach, loading/unloading heavy goods, and noting their suggestions.
- Answer telephone calls quickly, take product orders, and provide helpful service.
- Check daily orders, set production schedules, prepare and bake products, and ensure they meet freshness standards.
- Perform inspection of incoming products for quality and quantity, noting mispicks.
- Maintain proper use of bakery equipment and report maintenance issues.
- Verify correct labeling and signage of products.
- Check for safety hazards such as hot racks or hot water contacts.
- Assist bakery clerks in lead capacity, prioritize orders, proof items, and pull product from freezer/cooler.
- Adhere to sanitation procedures; keep work area clean and tidy.
- Follow personal hygiene and dress guidelines.
- Maintain strict adherence to company policies; report to work on time.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Order supplies and merchandise per bakery manager’s directives.
- Re‑merchandise shelf items and discard outdated products.
- Write department schedule, ensure staff presence, and provide cover when absent.
- Assist in other store areas as needed.
- Complete other duties and special projects as requested.
- Problem‑solving with varied, non‑standardized variables.
- Basic arithmetic (fractions, decimals, percentages).
- Data entry, basic interviewing, and giving clear direction to teammates.
High school diploma or equivalent. Department training is helpful. Six months to one year of similar experience preferred.
Physical Requirements- Lift up to 50 lb occasionally; 20 lb frequently.
- Daily tasks include stooping, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, and repetitive motions.
- Vision requirements: 20 in. to 20 ft, with or without correction.
Exposure to flour, noise, temperature extremes, dampness, vibration, equipment hazards, and cleaning chemicals. Fast‑paced environment with significant pressure.
Equipment Used- Mixers, proof box, ovens, sheeter, rounder, dishwasher, fryer, telephone, intercom, cash register, label machine, shrink wrap machine, RPM, copy cake machine.
