Job Description:

** JOB SUMMARY
** The Paramedic –Emergency Department Care Technician works under the direction of a RN to care for patients within the Emergency Department.
This individual will room patients, taking vital signs, initiating intravenous lines, drawing blood, performing 12-lead EKGs, applying splints, assisting with procedures and patient monitoring.  The Paramedic – Emergency Department works in a team environment to provide necessary care to our patients and their families and may assist in other clinical departments as assigned under the direction of the RN.
** JOB QUALIFICATIONS
**** EDUCATION
* ** For positions requiring education beyond a high school diploma or equivalent, educational qualifications must be from an institution whose accreditation is recognized by the Council for Higher Education and Accreditation.
*** Minimum

Required:

** Graduate of a paramedic program.
** Preferred/Optional:
** Associates degree in paramedicine.
** EXPERIENCE
* *** Minimum

Required:

** Proficient with reading, writing and speaking English.
** Preferred/Optional:
** Experience as a paramedic.  Proficient with reading, writing and speaking in alternate languages.
** CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES
*** The following licensure(s), certification(s), registration(s), etc., are required for this position.  Licenses with restrictions are subject to review to determine if restrictions are substantially related to the position.
*** Minimum

Required:

*** Basic Life Support (BLS) certification awarded by the American Heart Association (AHA) within three months of hire.
* Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification awarded by the American Heart Association within six months of hire.
* Current Applicable State Paramedic license.
* Current driver’s license with acceptable record may be required (varies by department/location).
