The RoleOur Plant Department is a critical division that supports construction, earthworks, and waste operations with a modern, well-maintained fleet of heavy plant and machinery. From excavators and bulldozers to specialist equipment, our plant is relied upon across major infrastructure projects and in-house operations.
The Plant Manager will lead the Plant Department, ensuring operational performance and commercial success. This is an operational role, not sales or business development. It requires a strong background in plant operations, ideally within a workshop environment, with the ability to oversee servicing, maintenance, and compliance across the fleet.
Key responsibilities include:
- Lead and manage the Plant Department, ensuring safe, efficient, and cost-effective operations.
- Take full ownership of the department’s P&L, maximising efficiency and controlling costs.
- Oversee the servicing, maintenance, and utilisation of plant equipment across all divisions.
- Manage procurement of plant, parts, and services, ensuring best value and alignment with operational demand.
- Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders to understand and meet plant requirements.
- Manage and develop the Plant team, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Ensure compliance with all HSEQ regulations and maintain ISO standards within the department.
You are a commercially focused leader with proven experience in plant operations within civil engineering, construction, or a similar technical environment. Knowledge of plant operations in a workshop setting is essential, with a focus on operational delivery, technical oversight, and effective fleet management.
You bring strong financial and operational management skills, with the ability to balance strategic decision-making and hands-on leadership. Collaborative and resilient, you build strong relationships, lead high-performing teams, and drive continuous improvement in safety, efficiency, and service delivery.
Key Skills
- Proven experience managing large-scale plant operations or similar technical environment.
- Demonstrated track record of P&L responsibility.
- Strong commercial, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of plant servicing, maintenance, and compliance.
- Excellent leadership and stakeholder management skills.
