The Registered Nurse Acute CVOR (Cardiovascular Operating Room) Critical Care is a skilled member of the allied healthcare team who provides clinical support and/or operating room assistance under the supervision of a licensed Cardiovascular/Cardiothoracic Surgeon. This individual works with a wide variety of healthcare professionals to deliver direct patient care before, during, and after cardiovascular procedures or surgery.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATIONFor positions requiring education beyond a high school diploma or equivalent, educational qualifications must be from an institution whose accreditation is recognized by the Council for Higher Education and Accreditation.
Minimum Required- Diploma or degree in nursing.
- Bachelor’s degree in nursing.
- Two years’ general operating room experience or one year CVOR experience circulating/scrubbing CV cases, to include but not limited to: video assisted thoracoscopy, mediastinoscopy, coronary bypass grafts, lung resections, general thoracic surgery, aortic dissections, valve replacements, and terminology.
- Two years’ CVOR experience – competent in functioning independently in the circulator role in multiple complex cardiovascular procedures and in life saving situations.
- Ability to both scrub and circulate is ideal.
- Current State of Wisconsin Registered Nurse License.
- BLS Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) required within three months of employment.
- ACLS Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) within six months of employment.
- Additional specialty or department-specific certifications, licenses, or memberships may be required (varies by department/location).
- Must meet criteria for hospital and ambulatory surgery staff privileges (where applicable).
- BLS Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) at time of hire.
- Adult Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA).
