American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg/PCU/Tele Neuro Trauma unit requiring trach/vent and drip titration experience.
Details- Acute care setting in a Level 2 trauma center, 5N Neuro Trauma stepdown unit
- 28-bed unit with nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:4-5 days and 1:5-6 nights, dependent on acuity
- Patient population includes stroke, seizure, Guillain-Barre, Myasthenia gravis, spinal injuries, thrombectomies, post-TNK/TPA, endovascular neuro cases, AMS, dementia, and trauma ortho injuries
- RNs required to titrate drips including Heparin, Nitro, Diltiazem, Amiodarone, 3%, and Insulin
- Charge nurse takes a full team assignment on nights and a smaller assignment on days
- Nurse aide support available at ratios of 1:9 days and 1:12 nights
- RT equipment on unit includes vents, trachs, CPAP, BiPAP, Vapotherm, and EtCO2 monitoring
- Central tele monitoring located off-unit
- Cerner EMR used, currently transitioning to EPIC
- Night shift, 12-hour shifts from
- Self-scheduling with 6-week advance scheduling; same shifts not guaranteed for travel duos
- Required to work every other Friday, Saturday, and Sunday
- Floating required to sister Med/Surg units across 6 specialties including mixed care, cardiac, general, MS ortho, and heme/onc
- No call or standby requirements
- Active WI or compact RN license required by start date
- Current BLS (AHA) and NIHSS certifications required
- Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg, PCU, or ICU experience required
- Must have experience in this setting within the last year
- Drip titration experience required
- Trach/vent experience strongly preferred; candidates willing to train if open to learning
- 2 current professional references required: 1 from a supervisor and 1 from a peer or supervisor
- Provide direct nursing care to neuro trauma and trauma ortho patients, including drip titration and trach/vent management
- Unit-specific orientation includes 1 shift of general orientation and 1 shift with a preceptor
- Holiday coverage typically required for 2 of 3 winter holidays, otherwise every other holiday
- Dress code allows any solid color scrubs
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Former Marshfield employees must have an end date at least 6 months prior to consideration
- All clinicians must clock in and out at the facility
- Candidates living within 80 miles of the facility are considered local
