Job Description
The Compliance Assistant provides operational and regulatory support to the Athletics Compliance Office to ensure adherence to NCAA, conference, and institutional rules. This position is responsible for maintaining eligibility and participation records, monitoring recruiting and CARA activity, tracking student‑athlete transfers, assisting with financial aid documentation, and preparing reports for audits and internal review. The role regularly interacts with coaches, student‑athletes, and campus offices to support accurate data collection and timely regulatory reporting.
Working under the supervision of the Assistant Athletics Director for Compliance, the candidate must exercise limited independent judgment and maintain a high level of accuracy, discretion, and knowledge of collegiate athletics compliance operations.
- Maintain and update student‑athlete eligibility, participation, and certification records in compliance systems and institutional databases.
- Monitor and document recruiting activities, CARA logs, squad lists, and transfer portal activity in accordance with NCAA and conference regulations.
- Assist with the preparation, review, and submission of compliance reports, audits, waivers, and required regulatory documentation.
- Support financial aid tracking and verification related to student‑athlete awards and eligibility status.
- Communicate with coaches, student‑athletes, and campus to ensure timely and accurate compliance data collection.
- Assist with legislative education by distributing compliance materials and maintaining documentation of required training.
- Ensure confidentiality, accuracy, and regulatory integrity in all compliance‑related records and communications.
- Bachelor's Degree
- 1–2 years of higher education experience
- Proficiency with computer programs, Microsoft Office suite
- Ability to clearly and effectively communicate with a wide array of personnel dealing with athletics, including student‑athletes; familiarity with NCAA and OVC rules and regulations
- Master's Degree
- 2–3 years of athletic compliance experience
