Position: Computer Science Adjunct Instructor (TEMPORARY)

Overview

Computer Science Adjunct Instructor (TEMPORARY) – This is an adjunct faculty position at Los Medanos College with a strong emphasis on instructional design and high-quality course delivery in Game Design, 3D graphic design tools, and 3D object modeling. The selected candidate will be responsible for developing and delivering engaging course content, creating clear assignments and learning activities, and supporting students through effective teaching practices in both technical and creative workflows.

Ideal applicants will demonstrate experience using industry-relevant software, building hands-on learning experiences, and guiding students through the full design process from concept development to finished 3D assets and projects.

This is an urgent hiring need. The process will be fast-paced, and the applicant must be available to teach during the Spring 2026 semester.

Duties and Responsibilities

Adjunct Faculty duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • providing instruction in accordance with established curriculum, course outlines and class schedules;
  • creating and maintaining an environment which emphasizes learning, encourages free discussion of ideas and critical thinking;
  • evaluating progress of students concerning educational matters and grades student work;
  • meeting with students outside of class;
  • maintaining appropriate standards of professional conduct and ethics;
  • maintaining current knowledge in the subject matter areas;
  • fulfilling professional responsibilities of a part-time/temporary faculty member;
  • maintaining accurate academic records;
  • performing other related duties as assigned.
  • Understanding of and sensitivity to the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, sexual orientation and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, staff and faculty.

    Qualifications

    Master’s in computer science or computer engineering OR Bachelor’s in either of the above AND Master’s in mathematics, cybernetics, business administration, accounting or engineering OR Bachelor’s in engineering AND Master’s in cybernetics, engineering, mathematics, or business administration OR Bachelor’s in mathematics AND Master’s in cybernetics, engineering, mathematics, or business administration OR Bachelor’s degree in any of the above AND a master’s degree in information science, computer information systems, or information systems OR the equivalent.

    Compensation

    Adjunct instructor pay rate is $77.87-$128.97 per hour (up to $151.16). Initial salary placement for full-time, tenure-track positions ranges up to $132k; other pay scales apply for counseling, librarian, and disabilities specialist roles as detailed in the original description.
