Overview

Engineering Technology Adjunct Instructor – DVC is looking for qualified adjuncts to teach classes in the Engineering Technology program, specifically Machining classes.

Responsibilities
  • Provide instruction in accordance with established curriculum, course outlines and class schedules.
  • Create and maintain an environment which emphasizes learning, encourages free discussion of ideas and critical thinking.
  • Evaluate student progress and grade student work.
  • Meet with students outside of class.
  • Maintain professional conduct and ethics; keep current knowledge in the subject matter.
  • Fulfill professional responsibilities of a part-time/temporary faculty member and maintain accurate academic records.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Master’s in any field of engineering technology or engineering OR
  • Bachelor’s degree in either of the above AND Master’s degree in physics, mathematics, computer science, biological science or chemistry, OR
  • Bachelor’s degree in industrial technology, engineering technology or engineering AND a professional engineer’s license, OR
  • Master’s Degree in Engineering Technology or Engineering, OR
  • Bachelor Degree in Engineering Technology, Engineering, Industrial Design, Industrial Technology, Machine Tool Technology, Manufacturing Technology, with two years of work experience, OR
  • Master’s in any field of engineering OR Bachelor’s in any of the above AND Master’s in mathematics, physics, computer science, chemistry or geology, OR
  • Bachelor’s degree in any subject and two years’ work experience in a related field, OR
  • Associate Degree in any subject with six years’ work experience in a related field
Desirable Qualifications
  • Experience and teaching skills for machining content including safety in the machine laboratory, blueprint reading and technical drawing, inspection and quality control, precision measuring tools, geometric layout methods, taps/dies and threading, speed and feed calculations, cutting tool theory, materials selection, hand tools, pedestal and surface grinding operations, drill press, band saw, manual lathes, and vertical mills.
  • Experience with CNC machining and CAD/CAM is highly desirable.
  • Excellent communication skills; ability to work in a collaborative educational environment. Teaching experience is preferred but strong aptitude or interest in teaching is welcomed.
Salary and Appointment

Initial salary placement for full-time, tenure-track positions ranges from $68,136 to $112,848 per year (up to $132k). Adjunct instructor classroom pay is $77.87-$128.97 per hour (up to $151.16). Counseling, Librarian, and Disabilities Specialist rates are $51.37-$87.77 per hour (up to $100.65).
