Job SummaryThe Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) will have responsibility for a broad range of human resources functions in support of MPC's Martinez Renewable Fuels facility. The HRBP's primary role is to partner with organizational leaders to achieve business objectives by providing guidance on employee relations and development issues, including restructuring, workforce/succession planning, employee development, performance, staffing, investigations, championing DE&I initiatives, and administering HR policies.
Responsibilities- Implement HR strategies aligned with business needs through influence and change management; develop strong business relationships with client groups and serve as key member of business unit leadership teams.
- Promote and foster diversity, equity, and inclusion (DE&I) in the workplace to support a high‑performing culture.
- Partner with assigned client groups in interpreting and administering HR policies and programs related to employment, compensation, benefits, employee relations, and other matters.
- Guide and assist employees and leaders in interpreting HR policies, procedures, practices, and programs.
- Provide performance and leadership consulting, including training, needs assessments, organizational development, and meeting facilitation; collaborate with HR Centers of Excellence to respond to changing needs.
- Conduct investigations and present findings to resolve employee disputes; participate in negotiations with employee unions and interpret labor contracts, including arbitration.
- Develop, lead, and/or assist with special projects; assimilate information and recommend actions based on findings and available funding.
- Bachelor’s degree required (Human Resources, Labor & Industrial Relations, or related field preferred).
- Four (4) or more years of related HR experience required; HR Business Partner or HR Generalist experience highly preferred.
- Prior experience in petroleum, utilities, manufacturing, or related field preferred.
- Strong ability to work independently and collaboratively to meet organization needs.
- Strong time‑management and organizational skills.
- Comfortable working with ambiguity and limited information; engage clients to reach clarity.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast‑paced, high‑output environment.
- Adaptability to changing priorities and deadlines.
- Strong collaboration skills; build working relationships with internal clients and external partners.
- High curiosity; eager to learn about energy industry and business subjects.
- Advanced experience with relationship management across all employee levels.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Attention to detail, analytical, team‑oriented.
