Medical Center - part of the VA Capitol Health Care Network (VISN
5) - offers a comprehensive range of services including internal medicine, ambulatory surgery, audiology and speech pathology, dental, nursing home, nutrition, podiatry, prosthetics, women's health, mental health and rehabilitation medicine.

Applicants pending completion of training or license may be referred and tentatively selected but may not be hired until all requirements are met.
Currently employed physician(s) in VA who met the requirements for appointment under the previous qualification standard at the time of their initial appointment are deemed to have met the basic requirements of the occupation.
Basic Requirements- United States Citizenship:
Non‑citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy - Doctor of Medicine or equivalent degree in medicine or osteopathic medicine
- Degree from a school approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs
- Current full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, Commonwealth of the United States, or District of Columbia
- Residency Training: completed accredited core specialty training leading to board certification (ACGME or AOA or other approved residency)
- Board certified with specialty in Hematology and Oncology preferred
- Proficiency in spoken and written English
- Lifting up to 35 pounds intermittently
- Moderate carrying (15–35 pounds) intermittently
- Assistive device lifting over 35 pounds as per Safe Patient Handling Policy, except emergent situations
- Pulling, pushing, reaching above shoulders intermittently with both hands
- Walking, standing, kneeling, and repeated bending intermittently
- Provide care at Martinsburg VA Medical Center under supervision of the Medical Sub‑specialty NOS Supervisor and Chief of Medicine
- Manage hematology/oncology patients – admission, outpatient, and chronic disease management
- Conduct comprehensive initial medical/psychosocial history and physical examination
- Order and interpret diagnostic tests, formulate and record diagnostic impressions
- Provide direct patient care, secure messaging, and education
- Supervise and teach medical residents, students, mid‑level practitioners
- Enter orders into CPRS and maintain documentation
- Collaborate intra‑departmentally and across VA and community providers
- Ensure infection prevention compliance and proper antiseptic methods
Base pay range: $ – $ per year.
Competitive salary, annual performance bonus, regular salary increases.
Paid Time Off: 50–55 days per year (including leave, sick leave, Federal holidays).
Retirement:
Traditional federal pension (5‑year vesting). Federal 401(k) with up to 5% VA contributions.

Licensure requirement: one full unrestricted license from any US state or territory.
Work Schedule:
8:00 am – 4:30 pm, Monday–Friday in Martinsburg, WV.
