Overview
West Virginia University School of Medicine and the WVU Heart and Vascular Institute seek a Regional Leader of Cardiology - East Region of WV (ranks available: Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor). The successful candidate will practice in Martinsburg, West Virginia
.
Depending on operational needs, a successful candidate may be assigned to provide services at additional worksites in West Virginia, Maryland, and Pennsylvania. Travel to fulfill duties at these sites should be anticipated and expected.
DutiesThe Regional Leader of Cardiology for the East Region, based in Martinsburg, WV, will oversee cardiology services at four clinical sites:
Berkeley Medical Center, Jefferson Hospital, Potomac Valley Hospital, and the Winchester outpatient clinic. This position includes 0.75 clinical FTE and 0.25 administrative FTE, with responsibility for providing both inpatient and outpatient care alongside a team of 8 cardiologists (5 interventional and 3 noninvasive). The leader will collaborate with the on-site administrative leader to guide the expansion of cardiology services, including the development of programs in electrophysiology, heart failure, and structural heart interventions to enhance cardiovascular care across the region.
In addition to providing excellent patient care, the successful candidate will also be actively involved in teaching medical students, residents, and fellows.
As part of a larger academic health system, the Regional Leader of Cardiology will also be involved in academic responsibilities at the Eastern Campus of the WVU School of Medicine, participating in the teaching and mentoring of medical students and internal medicine residents. Candidates should have a minimum of 5 years of clinical experience, with preference given to those with prior leadership experience.
In addition to clinical and academic duties, the leader will focus on expanding services, recruiting talent, and fostering a collaborative environment that promotes continuous growth and improvement in the cardiology service line. This role offers a unique opportunity to influence the future of cardiovascular care while shaping innovative programs in a community-based academic setting.
Candidate must have an MD or DO degree or foreign equivalent and be eligible for a state medical license. Successful candidate must have completed a cardiology fellowship program. Successful candidates must be board certified / eligible in Cardiology. All qualifications must be met by the time of appointment.
