Adjunct - Medical Lab Assistant role at Blue Ridge Community and Technical College
The Division of Allied Health Sciences is seeking Adjunct Instructors for lecture and/or labs for Jefferson County School's Med Ed Program.
Duties- Teach community & technical college students in a specific field of expertise and engage with students to help them learn.
- Review/refine a class syllabus to include instructor‑specific contact information and course policies and ensuring that the syllabus meets department and college standards.
- Plan and create lectures, in‑class discussions, and assignments.
- Grade assigned papers, quizzes, and exams.
- Assess students’ progress based on participation, performance in class, assignments, and examinations.
- Report student learning outcomes, class reviews, and analyze student data.
- Collaborate with colleagues on course curriculum.
- Advise students on how to be successful in class.
- Stay updated on innovations and changes within their course field.
- Associate’s degree or higher in medical technology or clinical laboratory science or related field.
- Completed a clinical laboratory program or internship through a hospital‑based program or as part of their education.
- Previous experience in a healthcare setting.
- Teaching or training experience, preferred.
- Experience using Learning Management Systems (e.g., Blackboard, Canvas, Brightspace), preferred.
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely while speaking and in writing.
- Ability to teach utilizing real‑world experience.
- Can utilize email and Blackboard (our learning management system).
- Demonstrates passion about their academic field and education in general.
- Active national certification as a certified medical lab assistant (CMLA), certified medical lab technician (MLT), medical technologist (MT), clinical laboratory scientist (CLS), or medical laboratory scientist (MLS).
Position open until filled.
Adjunct pay dependent on degree level.
