Part Time Hourly Instructor - American Heart Association Courses

The Division of Allied Health Sciences is seeking Part Time Hourly Instructors for our American Heart Association courses. As a part-time AHA specialist, you work with students at a college to provide the knowledge and training they need to be successful in their chosen career. Your ability to work on a course-by-course basis offers flexibility in your schedule.

Typical duties of AHA instructors include but are not limited to:

  • Teach community & technical college students in a specific field of expertise and engage with students to help them learn.
  • Plan and execute the AHA curriculum.
  • Grade students' post-AHA exams and practical skill evaluations.
  • Properly fill out required rosters, skill evaluations, and other AHA paperwork.
  • Advise students on how to be successful in class.
  • Stay updated on innovations and changes within their course field.
  • Education Requirements
    • High School Diploma required.
    • Associates Degree or higher preferred.
    • American Heart Association (AHA) Instructor in BLS for Healthcare Providers required.
    • American Heart Association (AHA) Instructor in Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred.
    Experience
    • 2 years of related experience in Healthcare (EMS, Nursing, etc.) preferred.
    • 1-year related experience with American Heart Association classes preferred.
    • Teaching experience preferred.
    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
    • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both verbally and in writing.
    • Ability to teach utilizing real-world experience.
    • Proficiency with email and AV equipment.
    • Understanding of how to utilize AHA resources.
    • Demonstrated passion for the academic field and education.
