Adjunct - Allied Health Science Faculty; JumpStart

Blue Ridge Community and Technical College is seeking adjunct instructors to teach in-person Jump Start (high school dual enrollment) classes for the Spring 2025 semester at our Martinsburg and Berkeley Springs locations. The disciplines include:

• General Biology
• General Physical Science
• Anatomy & Physiology

Candidates must be available to teach in-person from Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 10:30 AM. Instruction will be scheduled based on class needs, not necessarily every day.

Our faculty are mentors and coaches dedicated to fostering a love of learning and building a community in the classroom.

Responsibilities include:

• Engaging students in both synchronous and asynchronous learning environments
• Creating syllabi that meet departmental standards
• Planning lectures, discussions, and assignments
• Grading assignments within one week of submission
• Assessing student progress and outcomes
• Utilizing Blackboard and other tools to enhance online learning
• Providing timely feedback and support to students
• Collaborating on curriculum development
• Advising students on course registration and program applications
• Participating in professional development and college events

Qualifications:

• Master’s degree in the discipline or a Master’s degree with at least 18 graduate credits in the discipline
• Preferred:
  Teaching experience and familiarity with educational technology such as Blackboard

Skills and Abilities:

• Ability to teach using real-world experience
• Strong communication and organizational skills
• Proficiency with academic technology and learning management systems
• Passion for education and student engagement

Licensure and Certification:

• Willingness to obtain Quality Matters online teaching certification if not already certified

This is a continuous job posting to build a pool of qualified adjuncts on an as-needed basis. Compensation depends on degree level.
