The City of Martinsburg is now accepting applications for a certified water plant operator.
Graduation from high school or GED equivalent and technical training in the operation of water treatment facilities with two years (class I), three years (class II), or five years (class III) of experience in a water utility, or any equivalent combination of education and experience.
Must possess and maintain a West Virginia Health Department Class I, II, or III certification. Class II, or Class III certification preferred.
Water plant operators perform a variety of semi-skilled technical and maintenance tasks in the operation, maintenance and repair of water treatment facilities and systems. The successful candidate works under the regular supervision of the Utilities Director or the Water Treatment Plant Chief Operator. While performing the duties of this position, the employee occasionally works outside in various weather conditions, and occasionally works near moving mechanical equipment and is exposed to wet and /or humid conditions.
The employee must be able to meet all physical requirements of the job including the ability to work outside, regularly lift and/or move up to 100 pounds, and regularly perform physical labor. Valid driver’s license required for position.
