Position: EHS Manager I

The Safety, Health & Environmental Manager (commonly referred to as an Environmental Health & Safety Manager externally) will lead the facility in safety and environmental initiatives at Ecolab’s Martinsburg WV manufacturing plant. The SHE Manager will take safety programs from implementation to integration, providing superior training and partnering with the leadership team and front‑line associates to influence change while achieving a commitment to a culture of safety among employees.

Partnering with plant leadership, the SHE Manager will be responsible for overall building comfort and functionality in safety, environment and security. The SHE Manager will drive sustainability initiatives to decrease utilization of energy and improve recycling. As the key representative to outside agencies, the SHE Manager will also drive compliance with regulatory and environmental permits. The SHE Manager will coordinate audits of the managed area and collaborate with leadership to ensure findings are addressed.

They stay informed on all existing and proposed changes in occupational health and safety regulations and ensure compliance in managed areas. The SHE Manager provides local regulatory reporting if required and ensures that leading and lagging SHE metrics are collected. They review metrics, trends, and actions with the supported Leadership team.

What You Will Do
  • Provide guidance and technical expertise to ensure compliance with SH&E regulations including governmental, state, industry, and Ecolab requirements.
  • Develop and implement systems and processes for the SH&E system to ensure training is timely and effective, incident investigations are timely and complete, audits are regularly scheduled, and observations are resolved including Gemba Walks.
  • Partner with the team to create a culture of trust, engagement, transparency, risk awareness and avoidance, and rigorous application of our SH&E Management System (SMS).
  • Champion the behavioral based observation program, Management of Change, SHE Pillar of TPM, and near‑miss/risk identification resolution.
  • Represent the plant in SH&E audit reviews conducted by third parties; communicate trends in audit findings, corrective actions, and observed best practices.
  • Uphold compliance with all federal, state, and local environmental regulations and develop SOPs for facility compliance including but not limited to RCRA, EPA, SWPPP, Clean Water Act, OSHA & safety contingency plans.
  • Manage all data mandated by environmental permits or regulations and prepare and submit all related reports.
  • Develop, track, and communicate SH&E indicators.
  • Supervise facilities infrastructure projects in relation to compliance with federal, state, and local air, water, and waste regulations.
  • Develop and implement systems and processes to reduce hazardous waste generation, increase recycling and conservation practices to meet our sustainability goals of water reduction and zero landfill.
  • Evaluate systems and implement projects to meet/maintain the increasingly stringent requirements of the wastewater and air quality permits at the plant location; ensure all permitting is up to date.
